Welcome to the SAR Foundation, Inc., and The Center for Advancing America's Heritage!

On behalf of the SAR Foundation, welcome!

Thanks to the generosity of the members and friends of the Sons of the American Revolution, construction of the new SAR Genealogical Library is now underway. Nestled in Louisville's Cultural District on West Main Street amid the second largest collection of iron-front facade buildings in the nation (second only to SoHo in New York), SAR is converting a historic 1870's era building into a state-of-the-art complex that will house SAR's Genealogical Library, Museum Gallery, Headquarters, and Center for Advancing America's Heritage. When completed, this antebellum building overlooking the majestic Ohio River will be transformed into America's premier facility on the Revolutionary War.

The SAR Foundation is making this happen through fundraising efforts involving SAR members, private foundations, corporations, businesses, local, state and federal government grants, community leadership and patriotic citizens across the nation.

The need for The Center for Advancing America's Heritage with its focus on the founding values of this great nation is clear. National surveys indicate that historical illiteracy grips the nation. Pulitzer-prize winning historian David McCullough notes that in many schools, "American History is being put on the back burner or taken off the stove altogether." The Center ensures that the stories of our patriot ancestors' struggles against tyranny and the principles upon which our country was founded are preserved so succeeding generations will enjoy the inestimable blessings of being an American.

As the fundraising arm of the Sons of the American Revolution, the SAR Foundation also works diligently to secure the necessary funding for our legacy programs including our youth essay and orations contests and the availability of our Color Guard to serve patriotic events across the nation.

At the close of the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked what kind of government the delegates had given the people. Franklin replied, "A Republic, if you can keep it." Help SAR preserve our Republic for our children and for succeeding generations with your generous contribution. You are invited to make a tax-deductible contribution to the SAR Foundation by mail or use our convenient on-line credit card authorization. Remember SAR in your estate plans and don't hesitate to contact our office for assistance with planned giving. Your contribution pays tribute to the patriotic spirit of our forefathers and will advance our cherished American Heritage for generations come.

Yours in patriotic service,

signed by William Allerton
